THREADS OF DIGNITY

Satya, a single mother from a humble background, has faced life’s challenges with unwavering determination. Raising two sons, Mani, an 8th grade student, and Shyam, currently in 10th grade, she struggled to make ends meet. Poverty overshadowed their lives, and the family’s plight worsened when Mani was diagnosed with a salt deficiency, adding further strain to their already dire circumstances.

With limited opportunities and no means to secure stable employment, Satya’s hope began to fade. She had once borrowed money from a self-help group but was unable to sustain a livelihood, as commuting to work at a company proved impossible for her. Her dreams of a better life seemed unattainable.

At her lowest point, Satya turned to World Vision India for support. We provided her with a jack powered tailoring machine worth ₹20,000, enabling her to start a small tailoring business from home. This gift became a turning point in her life.

Today, Satya is a proud and independent entrepreneur. Her sewing machine not only helps her earn a steady monthly income but also allows her to care for her sons and keep the family afloat. The once overwhelming weight of poverty has lightened, replaced by the satisfaction of providing for her children and securing their education.
